A former
military school building, situated in the territory of the
Kazan Kremlin, was built in the 20's of 19th century. In
years, the building was used for many purposes. Thereby,
it was decided in 2003 to create here a geological and mineralogical
museum, the biggest in the capital.
A rehabilitation
design was developed basing on the order from the Museum
Management. It provides for preserving a three-story version
of the building, rehabilitating cornices and architectural
components, replacing attic roofing and wooden window and
door frames. A ground floor is designed for storage and
technical facilities, workrooms and stock depositories.
A second floor is intended for exhibition halls, lecture
rooms and video room. In the Museum, visitors will be able
to acquaint themselves with all the diversity of the earth
and its interior in Tatarstan, to admire a spacious picture
gallery.
